Introducing The Bubblegum Dress

Yummy! I am loving this pattern. Not only did it come together in a jiffy, but it only needed adjustment to the sleeve width and side seams and this was as easy as increasing the seam allowance due to the way the sleeve was constructed. This double knit is soft and not too thick and incredibly easy to sew. I was a worried about not being able to find rounded needles (the kind made for knits) but my regular needle worked fine as long as I sewed slowly.

The belt was a disaster, as for some reason it was way too short even though I was sure I cut it out correctly. In the pictures it is pinned so it stays fastened. I have plenty of this knit left so I can easily refashion a belt. I also might look for a belt that matches my shoes.

The longest zipper I could get in this pink was about 5" too short for the opening. Shortening the opening would have been a tight fit for my rear end, so I just had the zipper end about 5 inches from the top of the neck and put a hook and eye at the top.

The sleeves have three darts at the elbow and one at the shoulder. The front of the bodice has gathers at the neck under the collar (which is an actual collar, not a band like it looks in the pictures).

I have a black double knit and some cute wiggle dress patterns that I am really looking forward to sewing up, but it will have to wait until at least after the Blue Crepe.
